If you’re like most of us, buried knee-deep in work lately, you’re probably just getting around to realizing that Mother’s Day is this weekend, on May 10th. The Mother’s Day card sections at local Duluth stores are starting to look picked over and you won’t get the same selection of flowers you would have had you ordered them last week, but there’s still time to plan a special day for the mom in your life.
YWCA 31st Annual Mother's Day Walk/Run
Ok, so it’s not being held ON Mother’s Day, but the day before (May 9), if Mom is the active type, the two of you can spend some quality time together outdoors. It’s a 5K run for women and it promotes breast cancer awareness. Then there’s the Two-Mile Walk and the Youth Fun Run. These are meant to increase “family engagement” and fitness for kids.
Back this year is the Vendor Expo, with many local women and kid-focused businesses on hand, and the Health & Wellness Expo.
Prices for the 5K (women only), the 2-Mile Walk and the Youth Fun Run are as follows:
- Adult (16 years & up) ― $40
- Youth (10 years - 15 years) ― $20
- Kids (9 years and under) ― Free
The fun starts at Held at the DECC and Bayfront Festival Park at 8:00 a.m. for the Betty Basgala 5K; at 8:45 a.m. the Youth Fun Run starts and then 9:30 a.m. is kickoff time for the 2-Mile Walk.
