A new brewery is being planned for the old Timber Lodge Steakhouse in Duluth’s Canal Park neighborhood, according to recent reports. Being called Hoops Brewing, owners of the new brewery hope the spot will eventually become a destination spot where visitors can stop in to grab a quick beer while checking out other attractions in Canal Park and the rest of downtown Duluth.
Once built-out, Hoops Brewing will encompass about 9,000 square feet, which will include a small 250-seat taproom that will be housed inside the Timber Lodge Steakhouse space that was a downtown staple for decades.
According to local brewmaster Dave Hoops, Hoops Brewing will feature anywhere from 10 to 15 beers at a time, and instead of having an in-house restaurant, patrons will be allowed to bring in outside food to enjoy while tasting and sampling some of Hoops’ finest brews.
Planning for Hoops Brewery has been on-going all the way back since February, and when Hoops Brewery does finally open, it’ll join the long and growing list of Twin Ports’ breweries currently operating, which include Lake Superior Brewing Company, Fitger’s, Dubh Linn, Bent Paddle, Canal Park, and Blacklist.
