If you’re a vintage real estate fan and love to see older buildings and homes preserved, you’ll probably love that the old Gardner Hotel on North Lake Ave., which dates all the way back to the 1890s, has been purchased and will be re-developed into what should be some pretty cool downtown condos.
According to reports, the building was purchased back in 2014 by Zenith City Revival LLC for $250,000 with the intention of building out 12 very stylish condo units that all have around 1,000 square feet of living space. Now, after a couple years of planning and a whole lot of anticipation, it looks as if the vision is finally coming to fruition, and there already seems to be plenty of interest in the finished product.
Developers are planning to sell the condos for between $225,000 and $370,000, which should be below some of the lower-priced condos in Duluth. And given the building’s optimal location not far from Corner-of-the-Lake Park and many other downtown Duluth amenities, it’s easy to see why this might be a great fit for a wide range of local condo buyers.
As for the name of the new building, the Business Journal is already reporting the new development will be dubbed “Building No. 12, Lofts on the Lake.”
