Is it too early to think about the weekend? Nah – it’s never too early for that! Here’s a look at a couple of events we thought looked interesting.
42nd Annual Head of the Lakes Jazz Fest
For 42 years now, UMD has been hosting the Head of the Lakes Jazz Fest and this year’s looks fabulous. Of course the university’s jazz ensemble will be performing but you can also catch Tom Harrell and his trio and Paul McKee.
The festival is held at Weber Music Hall on Friday, March 6th at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday the 7th, at 5:00 p.m. at the Marshall Performing Arts Center. Get tickets online.
See a Show
The Superior Community Theater presents Oliver! This Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Based on the Dickens novel “Oliver Twist,” it’s been a musical theatre tradition for more than five decades.
Follow the adventures of an orphanage runaway who hooks up with a gang of boys trained to be pickpockets by an older villain.
Show times are 7:00 p.m. on Friday, 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and a matinee on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
To attend the show only, tickets are $10. Dinner and show, Saturday only, are $16. Oliver! Is being staged at the Faith United Methodist Church at 1531 Hughitt Ave. in Superior, WI.

Mustache March Run
Join the “furry and festive fun run” that is the Mustache March Run this Saturday, the 7th at 5:00 p.m.
Enjoy a 2.65 mile run on the lakewalk and then the amazing and rambunctious awards ceremony, complete with mustache contest, after. Then, there’s a concert!
Even the less-furry among us are invited to run – as long as you wear one of the free, faux ‘staches they’re happy to hand out. This includes you, ladies.
You must pre-register for the run and slots were filling up fast a couple of weeks ago. The race starts at 5:00 p.m. at the Fitger's Complex, 600 E Superior St in Duluth. Learn more here.
